SOUNDBITE: (English) Elizabeth Osborne, Mick Fanning's Mother:
"It was absolutely terrifying. I actually got up and walked across to the television because I just couldn't believe what I was seeing and I thought we lost him."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Elizabeth Osborne, Mick Fanning's Mother:
"That was scary, yeah, because I couldn't see him and I thought he sort of had been thrashing around a little bit and I thought that he probably would've gone under. But look, I'm just so proud that he managed to fend it off."
(Question: And sort of pure relief when popped up on that ski?)
"Oh, that was good time. I did feel for him though because he obviously so shaken and I was pretty joyful , but I'm sure he was too. But it was very emotional moment."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Elizabeth Osborne, Mick Fanning's Mother:
"I went over to the television almost as though I could pull him out of the television. I just wanted to save him really, but there was nothing I could do."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrew Stark, Surfing Australia Chief Executive Officer:
"Oh look, stunned. Yeah I mean really shocked and relieved that Mick's ok and Julian's (fellow surfer Julian Wilson) ok as well and youknow, two Australian iconic legends of our sport involved in an incident like that and yeah, it's sort of very, very shocking situation, but very relieved that they're ok."
