Team Alvimedica became the fifth team to reach the first leg pit stop of the Volvo Ocean Race in Cape Town, South Africa, early on Friday (7 November).

Cape Town, South Africa, is host to the first pit stop of the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race.

And the dual-flagged Team Alvimedica became the fifth team to reach the stop in the early hours of Friday, crossing the finish line.

The crew were greeted by supporters waving flags and their familes, who they haven't seen for almost four weeks. The joy on their faces was clear to see.

They spent 26 days and 13 hours at sea following departure from Alicante, Spain, and finished the leg behind Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, Dongfeng Race Team, Team Brunel and Team Vestas.

Two yachts remain at sea, representing MAPFRE and Team SCA, the first all-female team in the race in 13 years.
