Postgame reaction after the San Francisco Giants beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night.

SOUNDBITE (English): Bruce Bochy, San Francisco Giants manager (on Hunter Pence's home run)

"Man that's a huge home run. They made a great relay there (on the play before Pence's homer) to save them a run but Hunter, he picked us up and I mean where he hit that ball, he got all of it and he had good at-bats tonight. It's good to get those early runs and some real nice at-bats early in the game. Blanco got us going, Buster and Pablo hit, I mean he hit a good pitch. And Pence, it's good to give your guy some early runs there. Bum was superb, Hunter had a good day, he's a guy that's hitting in the heart of our order. You're looking for those guys to drive in runs and he had a big game today."

SOUNDBITE (English): Madison Bumgarner, San Francisco Giants winning pitcher (on having a 3-0 lead when he took the mound)

"Yeah it definitely makes it a lot easier on you when you can go out there and you know that our guys have already scored three runs. Just makes it easier to go out there and make pitches and attack guys and try to get ahead. You're not so worried about leaving one over the middle at that point because we do have the 3-0 cushion there, so I felt pretty good. The command was good so we were making pitches."

SOUNDBITE (English): Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals manager (says Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner kept his team off balance)

"Well we never got on base, that disrupts a lot of things. When you don't get on base so the old adage is you can't steal first (base) and Bumgarner did a great job in keeping us off base, and when you do that we can't utilise our speed."
