Post-game reaction after the Boston Red Sox advanced to the World Series by defeating the Detroit Tigers 5-2 on Saturday, October 19th, in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Shane Victorino, Boston Red Sox Right Fielder (On his grand slam) "Obviously the first thought was get enough air to tie the game and then it got to the point where I felt like 'wow this could get up over the wall' and all the emotions went through my mind. And obviously seeing it, you know, no disrespect, and I would never be one of those guys, if guys took it wrong, but I was definitely excited when I ran around the bases, you know, the pounding in my chest, I've been that kind of guy. I don't like when teams show that kind of emotion and I hope they understand it was a special moment for me, for the city and no disrespect, again. The guys across the way, we played the Tigers, I mean I respect those guys like no other, the staff, everybody. It was a special moment and like I said, no disrespect to them, but this was a battle to the end."

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Farrell, Boston Red Sox Manager: "It's been a matter of the most two runs, except for in that seventh inning, where (Shane) Victorino, finally we were able to break through. But you couldn't have asked for a better series. It tested everything that we had, pushed us to the limits and just want to congratulate them on a great year."

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Farrell, Boston Red Sox Manager (On facing St. Louis in the World Series): "You're way ahead of the gun, here. We're probably going to take maybe 12 or 24 hours to let this one sink in. But watching them last night, they've got a fantastic team. And a lot of young power arms that will walk to that mound, so by the time Wednesday rolls around we'll be prepared, but not right now."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jim Leyland, Detroit Tigers Manager: "Well I thought both teams played good all series. We had a couple of blunders tonight, but it was a tough series. I want to congratulate the Boston Red Sox, John Farrell, Ben Cherington, their players. They deserve to be the representatives (of the American League in the World Series), they beat us and I wish them the best. They played very well and there was a lot of good games. We just, like I said, collectively, starting with me, the coaches, the players, we just didn't do quite enough."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jim Leyland, Detroit Tigers Manager: "The difference really, when you look at the series, is they hit a couple of big bombs and, you know, we just didn't quite do that. They hit a couple of timely, two or three really timely home runs. (Mike) Napoli, Big Papi (David Ortiz) and tonight (Shane) Victorino."
