SOUNDBITE (English) John Farrell, Boston Red Sox manager:
"Tonight John Lackey was outstanding. Particularly in that first and fifth innings when he gets Victor (Martinez) to end the first inning, whose been swinging the bat exceptionally well, particularly form the left hand side. And then after a leadoff double to (Jhonny) Peralta, they move him over with a groundball on the infield out. He (John Lackey) gets a big strike out with (Omar) Infante and then ends it with a groundball to (Andy) Dirks. But John Lackey was outstanding. He held his stuff throughout the entire time he was out there. Bres (Craig Breslow) comes in, picks him up with (Alex) Avila coming to the plate right there. And then the two key strikeouts in the eighth inning, with Junichi (Tazawa) against (Miguel) Cabrera and then Koji (Uehara)against (Prince) Fielder. Just very good, very good work by every guy that went to the mound today."
SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Napoli, Boston Red Sox first baseman:
"I've been feeling comfortable. I'm not searching for anything. For me it's just being on time. And going into that atbat, he (Justin Verlander) got me twice early in the game. He threw me four sliders which he's never done to me before. But I just kept on going at it. I put a good atbat together. I was able to get it to 3-2 and got a pitch I could handle."
