Salford could hand a debut to striker Tom Elliott as they host Northampton in Sky Bet League Two.
The 29-year-old joined Graham Alexander’s side this week on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Championship outfit Millwall.
Defender Carl Piergianni is now out of the reckoning after joining Oldham on loan until the end of the season.
Two other Salford players, Tom Walker and Devante Rodney, have now moved to Fylde and Halifax respectively on loan after returning from spells at Stockport.
Northampton could again by without midfielder Alan McCormack.
The 35-year-old is back in training after three games out with an unspecified injury but manager Keith Curle has said he does not want to rush him if not ready.
Midfielder Shaun McWilliams (knee) and forward Harry Smith (ankle) are facing lengthy lay-offs after suffering injuries in the Boxing Day clash with Crawley.
Forward Billy Waters, who has made 13 appearances for the Cobblers in all competitions this season, has now joined Newport on loan.
