Rotherham secure comeback win over Solihull Moors to reach FA Cup third round

Rotherham produced a stunning second-half comeback as they recovered from a three-goal deficit to avoid a huge FA Cup shock and down Solihull Moors 4-3.
Solihull made an electric start and were rewarded in the sixth minute when Jamey Osborne punished lacklustre defending from Rotherham to drive the ball into the top corner from 18 yards.
It was double delight for Solihull just two minutes later as a looped cross fell behind a stagnant Rotherham defence and Alex Gudger timed his run perfectly to strike a volley home.
The Millers were struggling to combat Solihull’s aerial prowess and a clinical counter-attack in the 62nd minute looked to have sealed the game for the Moors as James Ball scored.
Rotherham searched for a route back into the game and after Adam Thompson’s header was cleared off the line, Freddie Ladapo converted Chiedozie Ogbene’s cross.
The visitors had reduced the deficit again just four minutes later as Michael Ihiekwe curled a smart finish into the top corner to spike the heart rates of home supporters.
Rotherham’s persistence then bore fruit as Ogbene crossed for substitute Michael Smith to power a header into the far corner in the 88th minute, and in almost identical fashion he repeated that feat in the 90th minute to complete the comeback.
