Celtic bid

Celtic will need to up their offer to David Turnbull if they want to salvage his £3million transfer.

Express Sport understands that the Motherwell midfielder is unimpressed with the offer that the champions have made.

The door has not been closed on the move, but there will need to be a significant shift from the Parkhead club’s side to get the deal over the line.

The concern for Turnbull is that he fears, with the offer on the table, that he isn’t being viewed as a regular first-team player.

Celtic know the wage that Turnbull is currently on at Motherwell and, although there has been a significant increase, the feeling is it is not in line with a player who is set to play a big part under Hoops boss Neil Lennon next season.

Arsenal exit

Arsenal have set their price for club stalwart Laurent Koscielny with Borussia Dortmund believed to be keen on the defender.

Dortmund are currently favourites for the French centre-back, who is believed to be tempted by a switch.

But Arsenal need the funds and are not going to let Koscielny leave on the cheap.

The Daily Star report that Gunners chiefs will demand £10.6million for Koscielny from any potential suitors.

It’s believed Emery has been told he needs to sell players to boost his transfer budget.

Maguire to Man City over Man Utd?

Leicester and England centre-back Harry Maguire will join Manchester City “if he’s got any brains”, claims ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley.

“Well Maguire will go to Man City if he’s got any brains and they want him, 100 per cent,” the former Chelsea ace said.

“And I think Man City do want him because Kompany has gone, Otamendi is still there but he’s not going to play much, John Stones struggled.

“If I was Harry Maguire and I had the choice I would walk to Man City and play for them ahead over Man United, 100 per cent.

“Why wouldn’t you? From a footballing perspective.”

Woodward's Man Utd message

Man Utd chief Ed Woodward has assured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he will be supported in the transfer market this summer although the Red Devils are hopeful of bringing Harry Maguire’s price down.

United have been linked with Ajax ace Matthijs de Ligt but are said to think the Dutchman is Barcelona bound, though the 19-year-old also remains linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

As a result they have moved towards Leicester centre-back Maguire, who was linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford 12 months ago.

Although United’s board were unwilling to meet Leicester’s £70m valuation of the England international a year ago when Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Maguire, the Evening Standard say executive vice-chairman will back Solskjaer this summer.

Tottenham shortlist

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is putting faith in Daniel Levy to sign as many names as possible out of Tanguy Ndombele, Donny van de Beek, Nicolo Zaniolo and Ryan Sessegnon this summer.

Spurs have not signed anyone since January 2018, when Lucas Moura arrived in north London.

Pochettino’s selectiveness with targets combined with the club’s tight pursestrings during the new stadium development have made Spurs dormant in the transfer market.

The Argentine manager is desperate for that to come to an end this summer, though, and is relying on chairman Daniel Levy to deliver the goods.

Lyon’s Ndombele tops a shortlist of players also including Ajax playmaker Van de Beek, Roma midfielder Zaniolo and young Englishman Sessegnon, according to The Guardian.

Hazard on Real Madrid move

Eden Hazard is ready to write another page in the history of Real Madrid after joining from Chelsea.

Hazard said: "I want to win many titles with Real Madrid, in this shirt. This has been my dream since I was a child and now I'm here. I just want to enjoy this moment.

"I'm going to try to become the best player in the world, but first I wanted to be in the best team in the world.

"I plan to enjoy myself here, because at Real Madrid you have to win as much as possible.

"Hopefully I can write another page in the history of the club."

Arsenal make Aubameyang decision

Arsenal will offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a new contract to fend off interest from the Chinese Super League.

The Mirror say the Gunners will hold talks with the Gabon international this summer.

The striker will get a pay rise, meaning he’ll pocket more than £190,000-a-week at the Emirates.

Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG have both made moves for Aubameyang.

Man Utd confident of deal

Man Utd are confident of landing Newcastle ace Sean Longstaff.

The Evening Standard say United are convinced the midfielder, 21, wants to head to Old Trafford.

Ed Woodward is keen to sign Longstaff soon with Newcastle set to be taken over.

The proposed takeover could block Longstaff’s exit - and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to land the midfielder.

Lampard to Chelsea plan

Chelsea have not yet contacted Derby County regarding Frank Lampard, who they hope to make their next manager, but will ensure an agreement is in place before allowing Maurizio Sarri to join Juventus.

The Blues are willing to let Sarri exit his contract, which runs until June 2021, but want over £5million in compensation.

Sky in Italy reported last night that both clubs finally shook hands on that fee and have, therefore, agreed a deal in principle.

The outlet have also stated, however, that Sarri will not be allowed to leave Chelsea until they have finalised plans for a replacement.

That replacement is likely to be Frank Lampard, the club’s all-time top scorer and current Derby manager.

Sky Sports News add that no approach has been made as yet for Lampard, though.

Arsenal deal close

Arsenal are closing in on the signing of German goalkeeper Markus Schubert.

The Independent claim the Gunners see the 21-year-old as a long-term replacement for Petr Cech.

Schubert could battle to be Arsenal’s No 1 with Bernd Leno if he completes his move to the Emirates.

However, Arsenal may end up loaning the youngster out to get him regular game time.
