Mansur Calar Receives Lifetime Ban From Football After Attacking Rival Player

Mansur Calar has received a lifetime ban from football after Turkey's Professional Football Discipline Board (PFDK) delivered its verdict on his controversial actions in Amed SK's match with Sakaryaspor.

The 33-year-old Turkish midfielder pulled out a sharp object ahead of kick-off and attacked Ferhat Yazgan, initially taking a swipe at him in the back before he went for his throat.

According to Son Dakika Spor Haberleri, the PFDK has taken action against Calar and has been punished for 'permanent deprivation for attacks on rival team players.'

Calar also received a 25,000TL fine, which is around £3,500 (€4,000), for breaching Article 4 of the Law on Penalties.

Along with the punishment for Calar, Amed SK will play one match behind closed doors.

The TFF Second League side's Muhammed Ali Ozdemir has received a four-match ban, while Muhlis Istemi will be suspended for five matches.

Yazgan shared a photo of his injuries on Instagram, which he captioned with the following: "These football players who put [sic] the field, TFF, I hope you'll see them."

In the past, the local rivalry between the two sides has resulted in Amed SK's footballers and coach being attacked by a 'mob of rival team's supporters.'
