Mohamed Salah has scored 43 goals in 50 games for Liverpool this year
MOHAMED SALAH has committed himself to Liverpool, declaring this season "just the start" after being crowned the club's Players' Player and Player of the Season at their awards.
The Egyptian's sensational debut year at Anfield has seen him sweep up a number of individual awards, including the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year and the in-club pair of gongs both last night - adding to PFA Player of the Year.
With the Premier League Golden Boot within his grasp, the 25-year-old would set a new record for the most goals in a 38-game season if he were to add to his current tally of 31 on the final day.
Liverpool face Brighton needing just a point to secure a top-four finish for the second successive season, ensuring Champions League football next term in the process.
The Reds might have pushed for a higher-placed top-flight finish had it not been for an exhaustive European campaign which has seen them book a highly-anticipated showpiece final against Real Madrid on May 26.
And Salah has been at the heart of Liverpool's domestic and continental success with 43 goals and 15 assists - leading to rumours of interest from Champions League final opponents Madrid.
But amid such links, Salah has assured fans that he is enjoying his time on Merseyside and has no intentions to leave this summer.
"I'm very happy here, I'm very happy and everything is fine," Salah said after receiving his awards.
"We have two games now starting with a game on Sunday. It's a very important game and then the Champions League final but I'm very happy here.
"Of course I have got ambitions for the future with Liverpool. As you can see we had a great season and now we are in the Champions League final and everyone is excited.
"This is just the start. This is my first year here and it is the same for some other players. I didn't watch all the games last season of the team but this year we have had an unbelievable year.
"We are very comfortable about playing in the Champions League next season. On the way to the final we beat top teams like Manchester City and Roma. It is just the beginning for this team."
Salah was jokingly asked about his three-game wait for a goal - having not found the net in a draw to Stoke or in defeats to Roma or Chelsea.
That is the wide-man's longest run without a goal since October, which he promptly ended with a brace away at Maribor in the Champions League which kickstarted a run of 38 goals in just 36 games.
"I've not scored for two [Premier League] games but I'm fine," he laughed.
"If we [the team] didn't score for two games, it's not the end of the world, it is something normal.
"We have a game on Sunday then the Champions League final and I'm sure we will help each other."
