Everton willing to spend big to bring in Wenger

A massive salary would be offered

The future of Arsene Wenger could still be in the Premier League, with Everton mulling over breaking their salary cap to keep him in England.

At the end of the current campaign, the Frenchman will bring an end to his 22-year association with Arsenal.

According to the Daily Star, the Toffees are ready to pull out all of the stops to bring in Wenger, with former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein acting as a mediator in talks.

Dein is a close personal friend of Wenger and was the man who brought him to English football from Japanese side Nagoya Grampus Eight.

"I'd like to finish one of my final press conferences by thanking David Dein, who brought me here," Wenger said.

"He had a special vision for the future of the club and Premier League and gave a chance to a foreign coach who nobody knew and that's special."

The aforementioned Dein also has a great relationship with Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri, who is the club's largest shareholder.

The Sun also report that Everton are willing to match the 9.1 million euros per season deal that Wenger was on in London.

What seems certain is that no matter whether or not Wenger arrives on Merseyside, current Everton boss Sam Allardyce will not remain at Goodison Park, despite having another year left to run on his deal.

There is already a great deal of discontent at Everton between the fans, players and Allardyce.

Wenger himself has also admitted that he has received more offers than he expected and has been surprised by the interest shown in him.

He was also linked to positions such as a director of football at Paris Saint-Germain, coach at Monaco or advisor to Akito Nichino, Japan's coach during the World Cup.
