Former Parma youth player confesses to murdering mother and sister

Soloman Nyantakyi, once of Parma's youth team, has confessed to the killing of his 43-year-old mother and 11-year-old sister after police detained the 21-year-old at a train station in Milan.

On Tuesday night, the Ghanaian footballer left his home in Parma after murdering his mother Nfum Patience and his young sister Magdalene Nyantakyi before being intercepted by the authorities on Wednesday, as confirmed by the police to local media.

During the 2014/15 Serie A season, the promising individual was called upon to join up with the Parma first-team squad on several occasions, under then coach Roberto Donadoni.

However, Nyantakyi did not maintain his initial success and departed the club for teams in the lower divisions such as Tuttocuoio and Imolese.

Suffering from depression, the former player supposedly murdered his family members with a blunt object, likely to be a knife, according to initial reconstructions.

In a neighborhood situated close to Parma's train station, the ex-footballer's brother Raymond first arrived at the scene of the crime to find the bodies of his mother and sister late on Tuesday night when he returned home.

Nyantakyi disappeared for around twelve hours, before being located through security cameras at the station in Parma, arriving to the central station in Milan where he was successfully seized.
