The £33m striker has struggled to make an impression at Stamford Bridge since joining from Marseille in the summer.

He scored one and made another after being given a rare start in Sunday’s 4-1 FA Cup win over Peterborough.

But even though he is wanted on loan by both West Ham and Swansea, Blues boss Antonio Conte is digging his heels in over the Belgian international.

Chelsea are poised to bring in Swansea striker Fernando Llorente to serve as a back-up for Diego Costa.

But Conte is convinced he can still get something out of Batshuayi and wants the 23-year-old to respond to the challenge.

Meanwhile, John Terry has ruled out leaving Chelsea this month while the Blues have finally ended their interest in Real Madrid star Pepe.

Terry has snubbed the chance to join Bournemouth on loan to try and win one last Premier League title at Stamford Bridge.

The 36-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has yet to be offered a new deal.

But he has already played the five league games required to get his hands on a fifth championship winners’ medal.

And he wants to see the season out at Chelsea despite a number of lucrative offers from China.

It has also emerged that the Blues made an approach for Portugal defender Pepe before Christmas.

But the 33-year-old, who Chelsea were interested in taking on a free transfer next summer, is set to move to China instead.

He has already rejected a new deal at Real but can double his current salary with a move to either Guangzhou Evergrande or Shanghai SIPG.
