Arsenal ace Sanchez picked up a muscle injury during international training on Tuesday and has not travelled to take on Colombia.

The Chilean FA confirmed it was a 'low grade muscle injury' but are hopeful he will be fit to face Uruguay next week.

Sanchez himself has played down the fears but Wenger has claimed they could be putting him in danger and is demanding they communicate with him.

Wenger, in an interview with beIN Sports , said: "I got a text last night (to say) that he has a hamstring injury. The team from Chile has travelled without him and they kept him to try and get him fit to play Uruguay for the second game on Tuesday night.

"I believe that with a hamstring injury we have to get access for our medical staff to the MRI scan to see what grade it is, how bad it is and make absolutely sure they don't make any suicidal decision that could harm his future for two or three months.

"That is absolutely important. It's a grey area between the national team and the club team and of course they look at their own results which I can understand but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sanchez.

"He always wants to play and that's where it is a more sensitive case because he's always ready to play even when injured."

After hospital tests Sanchez told Chilean newspaper El Mercuro: "It is hurting a bit but I'm fine. I'll be back for Tuesday."

Sanchez, 27, has been in great form for Arsenal this season, scoring eight times with Wenger's men in the mix for the title.

They are unbeaten since the opening day of the season and have already secured a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Sanchez has played through the middle this season and kept Olivier Giroud out the side.

But Wenger is desperate to have his key man available for the Christmas run in, particularly with a trip to Old Trafford to face Jose Mourinho and Manchester United next.
