7M Ratings - Manchester City's new signings

Posted Wednesday, September 14, 2016 by 7M Sport

Pep Guardiola condemned old foe Jose Mourinho to his first defeat as Manchester United manager as Manchester City came out victorious from Manchester Derby on away field. Hence the Blue Moon became the only team that won all 4 leauge games since the Premier League new season started.

Apart from Pep's arrival brings new life to this UEFA Champion League underachiever, their new signings also play important roles in their powerful leauge winning streak.

So let's round up how they have been playing so far.

7M Ratings - Manchester City's new signings
Nolito - 7

Nolito is arguably the most underestimated signing for Man City. As Guardiola's first attacking signing of the summer, he has no Premier League experience but has worked with his new coach before when they were together at the Camp Nou and will know how to deliver the high demands that are expected of him.

He turns 30 in October and showed he is in top shape with a starring role for Spain at Euro 2016.

Nolito played all of these 4 league games and scored 2 late goals against Stoke City. Last week, he was always a handful for United's Valencia as he drifted inside from the left to create space for Kolarov and De Bruyne.

With goals and the ability to cut into the box and shoot across goal has proven a potent weapon for his new team. Although the 29-year-old still needs time to adpat, but his latest performances make us confident for this £13.8m signing's future in City.

Ilkay Gundogan - ?

As City's first signing in this summer transfer window, Ilkay Gundogan has picked up a knee injury that sideline him for months and cause the Germany international to miss all City's games so far.

Although Gundogan is not tested yet, his playmaking vision and technical skill in the form of a soft first touch, close dribbling control and passing ability over short and long distances is what Pep Guardiola's system needs. Whether the 25-year-old will fit in the City squad and Premier League as he left Germany for the first time, the answer will gradually emerged.

7M Ratings - Manchester City's new signings
Leroy Sane - 6

Leroy Sane only sustituted 2 times, but he already make a decent impact on Pep's team.

He is a youngster who offers City a top-class wide player that they arguably don't have at the moment. Raheem Sterling is woefully out of form and there is still a long way to go until he becomes the final product, while Jesus Navas has never really been at his best in the Premier League.

Although Sane is also yet to reach his potential, he is still a player who will improve the current City squad. His ability to play on both wings and willingness to run at defenders make him the sort of player who will thrive in the Premier League.

According to a new report, Manchester City are being asked to pay far too much for Leroy Sane who is being over-valued by £11m.

Nonetheless, it is clear that the best years of Sane's career are still ahead of him, but he is still capable of making an immediate impact at the Etihad Stadium. What City valued the most of him, is the bright future of this 19-year-old German new star.

7M Ratings - Manchester City's new signings
John Stones - 6

John Stones got the most minutes under his belt out of these 5 new players. He shown brilliant tackle skill in those matches but his communication with his teammates was poor.

City paid £47.5m to make the 22-year-old the second most expensive defender in history after David Luiz. Clearly, just like Leroy Sane, City is putting their money on Stones' future as their current defensive line is rapidly aging.

The former Everton defender is never famous for his stablity. But playing at the Etihad Stadium will see him soaring quickly, unlike his former Merseyside teammate Ross Barkley who just lost his national team spot due to his stagnant progress.

7M Ratings - Manchester City's new signings
Claudio Bravo - 5

Joe Hart's replacement Claudio Bravo looked flustered and nearly lost the game for City single-handedly as he started the Manchester derby. Ironically, he was terrible with the ball at his feet and could have seen red for a dangerous lunge on Wayne Rooney. He also gifted United their goal and almost gave them a second minutes later.

Let's stop the criticism for a minute and think about this is the Chilean keeper's first Premier League game. We have to give him some time to adjust himself to the new environment.

Bravo brings with him a winning mentality, having won two La Liga titles, the Champions League, and the Copa America with Chile twice in the past two years.

Though Bravo is 33, he can certainly meet Guardiola's demands for three or four seasons. Besides, statistic shows that his performance is much more stable than that of Joe Hart.

It is clear that Pep Guardiola brought in some new talents and some well-seasoned veterans with one thing in common - these players are familiar with him in diffenrent ways. With their manager's unambiguous target in mind, these new signings are bound to get higher ratings later.
