Kop boss Jurgen Klopp would love to snatch the French enforcer from the grasp of his Premier League rivals.

Manchester United are in pole position with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham all prepared to fork out for the 25-year-old.

Leicester are resigned to losing the man who helped drive them to a shock Premier League title win.

They’ve had more enquiries for Kante than they’ve received for Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez put together

Kante proved to be a revelation in his first season in the English top flight after signing from Caen for £5.6m last summer.

But he has a £22m release clause in his contract and after his sensational performances last season, that hasn’t put off any of the big hitters.

The midfield tackling machine is the man they all want and now it seems to be merely a case of who Kante decides to join.

United head the field with new boss Jose Mourinho identifying Kante as potentially his new Claude Makelele.

Makelele was a key figure in guiding Chelsea to back to back titles during Mourinho’s first spell at Stamford Bridge and Kante is seen as the nearest thing to him.

He also played a starring role in host France’s opening day 2-1 victory over Romania.

Kante hit more passes than any other player (86) and enjoyed the highest success rate of 92 per cent with just seven per cent of his passes going astray.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri would love to hang on to the midfielder but accepts he might be fighting a losing battle.

The Foxes are prepared to offer Kante a brand new bumper wage package but money has no longer become an issue.

Leicester just can’t get close to the packages the likes of United can come up with and so Kante looks certain to be on his way the minute France’s involvement in the Euros is over.

He can virtually name his price now with nearly all of England’s big guns eager to snap him up along with some of Europe’s major players like Paris St Germain.
