Arsenal confident of landing £7m second signing

With Granit Xhaka now through the door, Arsene Wenger is able to turn his attention towards other targets. He’s apparently confident of landing Celtic’s Tom Rogic next, with a £7m deal on the cards, according to The Sun.
The 23-year-old has been excellent for the Scottish side, scoring ten goals from midfield this season. He’s been a bit of a revelation while enjoying his breakout season, and has seemingly caught Wenger’s eye.
The report suggests he’s being targeted as a replacement for some of our outgoing midfielders, with the likes of Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta on their way out of the club. It seems like more paper talk however, and an actual move for Rogic is incredibly unlikely.
Not only do we already have a pretty well stocked midfield – with Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Jack Wilshere, and Aaron Ramsey fighting for a place – but Rogic arguably isn’t of the required calibre to play for Arsenal. He wouldn’t get anywhere near the starting XI, and would he really want to make the move to Arsenal knowing he won’t play?
It’s not out of the question to think that Wenger could be looking to sign a young player to increase our squad depth, but there are plenty of other priority signings before another midfielder is brought in.
