Pep Guardiola will be taking over Champions League-bound Man City next season and hopes to bring the team even farther than the Semi-Finals they reached under Manuel Pellegrini this past year. Among the lengthy list of world superstars ranging from Lionel Messi to Gareth Bale is an underrated star from Bundesliga who Guardiola had plenty of time to scout this season: Schalke 04 winger Leroy Sane.

According to the Express, Man City are eager to land the Schalke starlet and are looking to sign the £30 million-rated star as the first signing of Guardiola’s new regime this summer. Recent reports have had Man United heavily scouting the German winger with Arsenal also keeping an eye on the rising star.

The 20-year-old Sane had a breakout season this year with eight goals and six assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances and earned his first cap for Germany in 2015.

Man City did not get the desired results from marquee signing Raheem Sterling this season amidst injuries to attacking stars David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.
