WANTED MAN: Felipe Anderson in action for Lazio
United originally planned to sign only a left-back this month but are now eyeing Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson at £35m and Southampton winger Sadio Mane at £30m.
That is as a direct result of recent, hugely disappointing results which have put manager Louis van Gaal under pressure.
And City are in talks with Real Madrid over midfielder Isco, 23, at £35m and hope to clinch the deal this week.
Isco wants to go in this window after being marginalised by Real boss Rafa Benitez and he played under City manager Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga.
He is seen as a potential replacement in the City squad for the injured Samir Nasri.
United, meanwhile, are discussing a deal for Brazilian Anderson, 22, at £30m upfront, with a further £5m in add-ons. United are prepared to pay him £170,000-a-week – compared to the £70,000 he is earning in Italy.
Old Trafford interest in Anderson was fi rst revealed in the Daily Star Sunday and United hope to make significant progress with the deal this week.
The Red Devils are also still keen on Mane, 23, and are prepared to up their bid by £5m to £30m – despite Southampton insisting he is not for sale.
