Don’t be surprised if Cristiano Ronaldo ends up back at Old Trafford next summer.
Certainly, it feels like the Premier League giants are doing their absolute utmost to ensure Ronaldo’s next move is back to the club that catapulted him to fame across the globe.
This past Sunday, a host of newspapers pushed quotes from Louis van Gaal that revealed Manchester United are keen on bringing back Ronaldo.
On Tuesday, Marca published a lengthy article, detailing how Sir Alex Ferguson has been tasked with playing a behind the scenes role in order to re-sign Ronaldo for United this summer.
Jose Felix Diaz reports that Sir Alex Ferguson is leading the charge for the signature of Ronaldo and his close relations with the Portuguese superstar could be crucial.
Ferguson met with Ronaldo earlier this month in London, at the premiere of his movie and the former Manchester United boss discussed the plans of the club in the coming years.
This follows a meeting last March between Ronaldo and Ferguson, with super agent Jorge Mendes also present.
After the Real Madrid-Schalke Champions League game, the trio discussed football over dinner.
Making this Marca report even more intriguing are suggestions in recent days that Real Madrid do want Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club this coming summer.
Finally, Marca suggest that whilst United hold the sporting and emotional cards to bring back Ronaldo to Old Trafford, PSG hold a financial advantage and are willing to pay 120 million euros for Ronaldo.
