Liverpool set to axe longest-serving player after BUST-UP with manager Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool midfielder Lucas could be on his way out of Anfield this summer after reacting angrily to being omitted from the starting XI for the game against Stoke City at the weekend, Mirror Sport reports.

According to the report, Lucas was extremely unhappy at being left out of the squad altogether for the season opener at the Britannia and had a heated exchange with manager Brendan Rodgers when the pair crossed paths later that day.

The Brazilian is currently the longest-serving player at the club following the departure of Steven Gerrard earlier in the summer, but was overlooked to be named as the new club captain and has dropped even further down the pecking order for a midfield place following the arrival of James Milner.

If Lucas has fallen out with Rodgers then it’s likely to result in the player being shown the exit door and that could lead to a potential switch to Italy with Inter Milan as they were interested in signing the 28-year-old during the January transfer window and could be tempted to go back in for him before the window closes in three weeks.
