Liverpool front runners in six way battle for £5m Ghana international

Liverpool are the front runners in a six way battle to sign Lorient star Jordan Ayew, reports the Metro.
The 23-year-old could be following his brother Andre to the Premier League. His sibling joined Swansea City recently, after leaving Marseille on a free transfer. It won’t be as cheap to bring the younger son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele to England, with him being valued at £5 million.
Jordan scored 13 goals in 31 games last season, which was apparently enough to impress Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman is on the lookout for a new striker after failing to properly replace Luis Suarez last summer. The 42-year-old brought Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli to Anfield after the Uruguayan left for Barcelona, but both flopped on Merseyside.
With the Reds now out of the Champions League it will be extra hard to recruit players to break back in to the Premier League to four, and the size of this transfer shows this. Agreements with free agents James Milner and Danny Ings have been announced on their official site here and here, and it looks like the free spending of last year won’t be repeated.
