Japan striker Yoshinori Muto has rejected an offer from Chelsea and is likely to join Germany's Mainz 05, according to reports.

According to Sports Nippon daily, FC Tokyo and Mainz have agreed on the 22-year-old’s transfer.


The transfer fee is said to be around 3.0 million Euros (402 million yen) according to the paper.


 Last week media reports suggested that Chelsea made a formal offer for Muto worth a reported $5.9 million but that was not officially confirmed bt the Premier League champions.


Muto has scored eight goals in 11 games this season, helping FC Tokyo move into joint second place in the J-League standings just one point behind leaders Urawa Reds.
