Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp says Manchester United were unable to break down Chelsea and Everton over the past few weeks due to an over reliance on Marouane Fellaini, via Sky Sports.
The Belgian international has been a surprise inclusion in Louis van Gaal’s team in recent months, playing an important part in Man United’s six-game winning run in the league.
However, they came undone with both Chelsea and Everton were unable to nullify the threat of the midfielder.
Redknapp is quoted as saying: “They’ve had some good results and played well against the likes of Manchester City. A lot of that has been because of the form of Marouane Fellaini, with United going direct to him. They got away with that tactic for a while before Chelsea and Everton nullified him.”
Van Gaal’s team failed to turn up for the game at Goodison Park this past weekend, suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Roberto Martinez’s Everton.
It was expected that Manchester United would return to winning ways following their loss away to Chelsea the previous weekend, but Van Gaal’s side failed to create any clear-cut chances throughout the game.
