DC Comics block Valencia’s bat logo registration due to Batman similarity

DC Comics have intervened in Valencia CF’s attempt to register their bat logo as a brand, deeming it to be too similar to their own logo for their Gotham City-based caped crusader, Batman.
As can be seen from the images below, there is a very close similarity between the bat logo Valencia are trying to incoporate as their own brand, and the one DC Comics already have branding rights on.
That’s not to say they’re identical either; there’s a quite clear difference between the two.
Also, it seems a bit harsh on Los Che, who’ve been using the bat symbol on their shirts since 1919, 20 years before the Batman comics were founded, in 1939.
