RAPIST Ched Evans will not be allowed to train at Sheffield United after public outcry, the club has said.
REFUSED: Ched Evans will not be allowed back at Sheffield United
The Welsh footballer had started training after spending two-and-half years in prison for raping a 19-year-old in Rhyl, Wales.
The club released a statement, saying it "has decided to retract the opportunity for its former player, Ched Evans, to use the club's facilities for training purposes, as was previously intended".
"The club initially accepted a request from The PFA (Professional Footballers' Association) for Ched Evans to be able to train.
"The reaction to this has been at an intensity that could not have been anticipated when first announced."
The Criminal Cases Review Commission has fast-tracked Evans's case as they examine his conviction.
Sheffield United have announced they will allow Ched Evans to commence training with them immediately following a request from the Professional Footballers' Association.
Last week, Olympic hero Jessica Ennis-Hill told the club that she would force the removal of her name from a stand if the player was to sign a contract with the club.
After winning gold at the 2012 London Olympics, the Heptathlete was honoured by the club.
Evans has maintained his innocence since the trial and has regained the trust and belief of his partner.
