Moyes eyes £30m Benz - but Rooney could go

MANCHESTER UNITED are lining up Karim Benzema as a replacement for Wayne Rooney.
They will listen to £25million offers for Roo and use the cash towards a £30m bid for Real Madrid’s Benzema.
But new boss David Moyes will thrash out Rooney’s future as his first priority at Old Trafford. The pair fell out over comments made in Rooney’s autobiography — but the rift healed some time ago.
Rooney would be happy to work for Moyes, who gave the striker his first-team chance as a 16-year-old at Everton.
Moyes has also praised Rooney’s maturity after receiving a call to apologise for their earlier bust-up.
While senior United figures are understood to favour selling Rooney, Moyes will have the final say on both that and the Benzema negotiations.
Rooney, 27, met Alex Ferguson two weeks ago to discuss his future. He was unhappy being played out of position and sometimes left on the bench.
SunSport revealed exclusively he was wanted by Paris Saint-Germain, while Bayern Munich and even Chelsea would also be interested.
Frenchman Benzema, 25, has two years left on his deal.
United first tried to land him in 2009 but Real outbid them by paying Lyon £35m.
Rooney last night hit back at claims he deleted ‘Man United’ from his Twitter bio.
He said: “Nike asked me to add @nikeuk three weeks ago. People talk like it was done yesterday.”
