Nemanja Vidic: Get your shooting boots on, Roo ’n Rob!
LOOK AWAY NOW ... Rooney can't bear to watch

NEMANJA VIDIC has called on Manchester United’s strikers to become sharpshooters.

Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and £22million new-boy Robin van Persie drew a blank in Monday’s 1-0 defeat at Everton.

Van Persie was introduced as a 68th-minute substitute but failed to have a shot.
Boss Alex Ferguson slammed his players for not providing enough service.

And skipper Vidic said: “We had some possession but we weren’t clinical.

“When you go away from home you expect the home side to have some chances but we need to be more clinical.”

The Goodison result was United’s first loss in a season opener in eight years.

Van Persie will make his first start at Old Trafford on Saturday against Fulham, replacing Welbeck in the starting line-up.

And Fergie will be working hard on Rooney’s link-up play with the Dutchman this week.

Rooney was a particular letdown at his old club.

There was an avalanche of criticism for the England man on Twitter and even the club’s own TV channel heard a caller having a go at him.

After a poor Euro 2012, he looked far from his sharpest and had the lowest pass completion of any of the United outfield players at 82 per cent.

Not the way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Premier League debut.

However, many are quick to forget this is the player who had his best goalscoring campaign last season hitting 34 — including 14 in his last 14 games of the season.

He was the top scorer in a team that finished second on goal difference with a points total that no team has achieved without claiming the title.

This is not a player who has lost it overnight and there is every chance Fulham will find that out this weekend.

There is little doubt he has been looking for someone to share the scoring burden.
