Kaka: My wish is to continue at Real Madrid and make up for lost time

Real Madrid playmaker Kaka has expressed his desire to remain at the Bernabeu and make up for lost time as he seeks to prove himself under Jose Mourinho.

His message comes just days after Goal.com revealed he was desperate to remain in the Spanish capital because he felt indebted to Mourinho amid reports of a swap deal involving Inter's Maicon.

And Kaka confirmed his desire to fulfil those plans of becoming great under the 'Special One', and is eager to show both fans and the club his real potential following numerous struggles with injury throughout last season.

"I did not match my expectations, as well as those of the media and fans. I hope and expect to do great things at Real Madrid. It's all about confidence. And contrary to what has been said, Mourinho has helped me a lot," he is quoted as saying by AS.com.

Some reports have suggested that the Real Madrid coach wanted him out, but Kaka's view could not be more different.

"People have said he [Mourinho] doesn't want me here. None of this is true. Mourinho has always been very honest with me and with his decisions, not just with me, but the team in general," he added.

"I only have words of thanks [for Mourinho]."

And on his desire to continue at the club, he said: "Honestly, that is my wish."

Kaka starred at AC Milan for six years from 2003 to 2009, winning both Serie A and the Champions League in a successful spell. Interestingly, he was originally signed by the Italian champions on the recommendation of compatriot Leonardo, who is now the coach at city rivals Inter.

However, Kaka says Leonardo has not asked him to join Inter.

"I have a great relationship with Leo, everyone knows that," the former Sao Paulo forward explained to Jornal da Tarde. "When I refused the offer from Manchester City [in January 2009, while still with Milan], he was the first to come to my house to support me and he said that he was happy with my decision.

"He has never sounded me out about playing for Inter because I have never left that door open. Every time we speak I say that I want to triumph at Real Madrid, and he says that is what I should do. Leo knows I don't want to leave."
