AC MILAN are preparing an £11m bid to snap up Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Didier Drogba could be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and AC Milan, who won the Serie A title last month, want to add some physical force to their attack for next season.

They were disappointed at the way they were beaten in the knockout stages of the Champions League by Spurs, and want to sharpen their strike-force.

Milan’s sporting director Adriano Galliani has held a meeting with club owner Silvio Berlusconi and have settled on Drogba as their No.1 target.

The 33-year-old Ivory Coast striker could end up playing second fiddle to £50m flop Fernando Torres next season.

But he is reluctant to make a decision on his future until he finds out who is going to take over as Chelsea’s new boss.

Milan have made it clear that £11m is not a problem despite Drogba’s age.

They know it will come down to whether Chelsea decide to sell, but the fee on offer could be attractive.

A source close to the Italian club said: “We need to make sure we complete our attack with proven goal- scorers in Europe.

“We want to make sure we have enough options for next season.”

Milan’s first choice was a trio of Alexander Pato, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

If Milan get a no from Chelsea then they will turn to Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor who spent the last six months on loan at Real Madrid.
