Man United to rival Tottenham for Real Madrid star

Manchester United are ready to rival Tottenham for the signature of Lassana Diarra this summer.
The Real Madrid midfielder started 19 La Liga matches last season but is worried that the arrival of Nuri Sahin from Borussia Dortmund could force him further down the Bernabeu pecking order.
And, according to Spanish newspaper AS, the 26-year-old said: "Next season I won't be playing here. I'm leaving."
Tottenham have been mooted as potential buyers, especially if Wilson Palacios is sold this summer.
Manager Harry Redknapp worked with Diarra during his time at Portsmouth when the tough-tackling midfielder enjoyed arguably the best form of his career.
But now it has been reported that Manchester United are ready to reignite their interest in the France international this summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson is in the market for a new central midfielder after the retirement of Paul Scholes and the release of Owen Hargeaves.
It is still unclear whether Madrid are willing to sell Diarra, who is considered a valuable squad player by Jose Mourinho. They will hold talks with the midfielder when he returns from holiday before deciding whether or not to offload him.
