Plymouth boss Lowe could stick with strike combination

Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe will be tempted to pair strikers Billy Clarke and Zak Rudden together again at home to Stevenage on Sunday.

Clarke made an impressive first league start for the Pilgrims in the Boxing Day success at Cheltenham and Rangers loanee Rudden scored the winner in the 1-0 victory.

Defender Niall Canavan’s return from a sickness bug allowed Josh Grant to play in an advanced position, and the young Chelsea loanee is expected to remain in midfield for the visit of Sky Bet League Two’s bottom club.

Joe Edwards and Joel Grant are options should Lowe decide to rotate with in-form Argyle chasing a fifth win in six games.

Stevenage marked the first game of Graham Westley’s fourth spell as manager with a home draw against Forest Green.

Emmanuel Sonupe missed the goalless Boxing Day clash through injury and will be checked before the trip to Devon.

Dean Parrett will also be assessed following his first start since the beginning of November and Chris Stokes hopes to rejoin the squad after illness.

Terence Vancooten, Paul Taylor and Michael Timlin dropped to the bench on Boxing Day, and Westley could make further changes with the festive games coming thick and fast.
