Sergio Aguero and John Stones could return for Manchester City

Sergio Aguero and John Stones could return to contention for Saturday evening’s home game against Leicester.

Aguero (thigh) and Stones (hamstring) have both completed two training sessions this week, but David Silva has not taken part due to a knock and remains a big doubt.

Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson and Fernandinho, among the players rested for the midweek Carabao Cup win at Oxford, are all expected to return.

Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers has given his squad “a clean bill of health” for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

Rodgers has no new injury concerns, which means he could name an unchanged starting line-up for the third consecutive match.

Matty James is back in training with the squad following a long-term Achilles injury, but is “not at the stage where we can think about games”, according to Rodgers.

Provisional squad: Ederson, Fernandinho , Stones, Otamendi, Walker, Mendy, De Bruyne, Foden, Gundogan Sterling, Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Rodri, Zinchenko, B Silva, Mahrez, Joao Cancelo, Bravo.

Leicester provisional squad: Schmeichel, Ward, Jakupovic, Chilwell, Justin, Pereira, Morgan, Evans, Fuchs, Benkovic, Soyuncu, Amartey, Gray, Praet, Tielemans, Maddison, Albrighton, Barnes, Choudhury, Mendy, Ndidi, Perez, Vardy, Iheanacho.
