Late Corey Blackett-Taylor effort enough as Tranmere edge Coventry

Corey Blackett-Taylor scored a late winner as Tranmere stunned a wasteful Coventry with a 1-0 Sky Bet League One victory at St Andrew’s.
The home side were largely in control from the off but created little in the first half with Jordy Hiwula going closest with a miss-hit volley which went over the crossbar.
The Sky Blues’ dominance continued in the second half and they created several clear-cut opportunities to take the lead.
Zain Westbrooke showed fantastic composure to tee up the Matty Godden, but the striker, blazed his effort over the bar from 12 yards out.
Godden came close yet again when a superb pass from Jordan Shipley found him all alone just inside the box. The striker shaped an effort which smashed off the post.
Coventry were made to pay after 83 minutes when Blacket-Taylor got on to a Keiron Morris flick-on to drill a superb left-footed effort past goalkeeper Marko Marosi.
The goal took the wind out of Sky Blue sails, and the home side did little threaten the Tranmere goal in the final minutes as the away side held on for their first win in three league games to move up three places to 18th.
