Mike Fondop’s double downs AFC Fylde

Mike Fondop scored twice as Chesterfield won away from home for the first time this season with a convincing 3-1 victory at AFC Fylde.
Kyle Jameson saw an effort cleared off the line and fellow defender Luke Burke jinked his way through before firing an effort over the crossbar as Fylde started on top.
At the other end, Tom Denton saw a shot saved and Curtis Weston was also denied by debutant goalkeeper Sam Hornby.
Chesterfield opened the scoring early in the second half when a Weston strike from the edge of the box found the bottom-right corner with the aid of a deflection.
They doubled their advantage through Fondop’s sixth goal of the campaign 11 minutes later – a neat flick over the keeper from Denton’s header.
And it was 3-0 with nine minutes remaining when Fondop scored his second of the game, heading in from a corner.
Fylde pulled a goal back through Tyler Hornby-Forbes in the second minute of stoppage time but it was mere consolation.
