Maidenhead end winless run with victory at rock-bottom Ebbsfleet

Maidenhead recorded their first win in nine Vanarama National League matches after battling back to beat rock-bottom Ebbsfleet 2-1.
The sides exchanged quickfire goals midway through the first half, with Ebbsfleet striking first when Josh Umerah converted a left-wing cross.
Danny Whitehall’s deflected free-kick within two minutes at the other end restored parity, and Maidenhead could easily have forged ahead before the break as Josh Kelly’s shot hit the woodwork.
In the second half, the struggling hosts dug in as they looked to claim a morale-boosting point, but in the 76th minute Ryan Upward headed in a corner to give Alan Devonshire’s side the key breakthrough.
Ebbsfleet have only won twice all season and are six points adrift of safety.
