Healey bags winner as MK Dons edge out rivals Wimbledon

Sam Nombe scored on his first league start for MK Dons as Paul Tisdale’s side inflicted a 2-1 defeat on bitter rivals AFC Wimbledon.
Rhys Healey bagged his third goal of the season before Marcus Forss netted a debut goal late on for the visitors, who suffered their fourth successive away league defeat.
MK took the lead when Conor McGrandles’ ball sent Nombe through on goal before the youngster shrugged off Terell Thomas’ challenge and slotted home in the 10th minute.
Healey made it 2-0 when he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box before finding the bottom corner of Joe McDonnell’s goal with a powerful right-footed drive 16 minutes later.
Wally Downes’ side should have pulled one back when Paul Kalambayi’s cross found Kwesi Appiah unmarked inside the MK six-yard box, but his tame effort was comfortably saved.
The visitors did reduce the deficit with seven minutes remaining through Forss, who headed home Callum Reilly’s deep cross, but it proved a little too late as AFC’s wait for their first league win continues.
