Stevenage injury list grows ahead of Macclesfield clash

Struggling Stevenage will field a depleted side as they host Daryl McMahon’s Macclesfield, owing to an increasingly long injury list.
Yet to gain three points or claim a single goal during their League Two campaign, Dino Maamria’s team are now without Birmingham City-loanee Charlie Lakin as the midfielder suffered a thigh strain during his debut against Mansfield.
Makin will be joined on the sidelines by captain Scott Cuthbert, centre-back Ben Nugent, midfielders Emmanuel Sonupe and Terence Vancooten plus forward Kurtis Guthrie.
Stevenage’s injury crisis has made way for several young players, with 18-year-old midfielder Arthur Iontton likely to feature alongside academy defenders Luis Fernandez and Jack Smith, both 17.
Fourth-placed Macclesfield will be fresher than anticipated after their second-round Carabao Cup tie against Grimsby was abandoned due to torrential rain.
Silkmen boss McMahon had made seven changes to the squad that defeated Scunthorpe the preview weekend.
Having secured victory against the Iron, striker Joe Ironside may reclaim his place in the starting XI.
Scottish winger Theo Archibald also contests for start, having scored twice from five appearances this season.
