ARSENAL could pay as little as ï¿¡12million for Chelsea defender David Luiz.

The Brazilian has said he wants to go and has got the okay from new Blues boss Frank Lampard.

The Gunners desperately need another centre-half after the ï¿¡4.6m departure of Laurent Koscielny.

Chelsea re-signed the player for ï¿¡32m in 2016 but will reportedly accept a small fee to get the player out of the club.

Luiz only has one year left on his Stamford Bridge contract so Lamps is prepared to cut his losses and let the player go, saving millions in wages which will be used when the club's transfer embargo ends.

The centre-half, 32, was a shock signing before the deadline day in 2016, just two years after he quit the West Londoners in a ï¿¡50m world record transfer to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
He became an integral part of Maurizio Sarri's plans last term.

But Lampard has decided he can get by with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and youngster Fikayo Tomori.

Luiz had reportedly gone on strike to force through the move.

He had also taken any mention of Chelsea down off his Twitter account.

The Gunners have also completed the ï¿¡25m signing of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney (August 7).

They are also interested in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
