Matthijs de Ligt or bust for Man Utd
Manchester United supremo Ed Woodward is desperate to sign Matthijs de Ligt this summer from Ajax.
But the Red Devils have fallen behind both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in their pursuit of the 19-year-old, it has been claimed.
De Ligt is a hot commodity after an impressive season which saw Ajax win the Eredivisie title and reach the Champions League semi-finals.
But the Independent claim United chief Woodward has decided unless he can bring the teenager to Old Trafford, a centre-back will not be brought in during the transfer window.
That decision is sure to anger fans with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finishing down in sixth in the Premier League last season.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery holds face-to-face meetings
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has reportedly spoken with every member of the Gunners squad after a disappointing season.
Arsenal failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League.
They earned themselves another chance by reaching the Europa League final, only to be beaten 4-1 by Chelsea.
But it was a season that ultimately ended in disappointment despite looking so promising at times.
And the Mirror claim that Emery conducted a review with every member of Arsenal’s squad at the conclusion of the campaign.
It’s believed each face-to-face session lasted between 15 and 30 minutes at the club’s training ground.
Emery is believed to have held meetings with squad members at previous clubs.
However the Mirror add that the meetings came as somewhat of a “culture shock” to some members of Arsenal’s squad.

Liverpool have Ryan Kent plan
Liverpool will use Manchester United signing Daniel James to help them make a transfer decision during the current window.
The Red Devils announced the arrival of the Wales international on Wednesday for a fee thought to be around £15million.
And Liverpool are set to use that as a guide in any sale of Ryan Kent this summer.
The 22-year-old impressed on loan at Rangers last season and is in demand as a result.
Steven Gerrard wants to bring Kent in permanently while Leeds are also interested in signing the winger.
Kent was voted Scotland’s Young Player of the Year after making 43 appearances for Rangers.
Goal claim he is keen on a permanent switch to Gerrard’s side or he wants to stay at Anfield to fight for his place at Liverpool.
The Reds have set an asking price of £12m after seeing the price paid by United for James.

But the Gunners are known to be keen and are believed to have been close on finalising a deal for the Belgian for days.
And now the winger, who formerly played for Monaco and Atletico Madrid, has admitted he wants to be back in Europe.
Asked about Arsenal he said: “I can't speak about the club.
"Now I am not the one who chooses, but my president.

Juventus jet in for Paul Pogba talks
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has flown to Manchester United's London offices to engage in transfer talks over Paul Pogba, according to reports.
Pogba has been linked with a move away from United this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plots a mass overhaul at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman recorded his best season last term since rejoining from Juventus in 2016 but there are concerns over his effect on the team.
Rumours have now gained serious ground regarding a return to the Turin club with Sky in Italy reporting that Paratici, who deals with the side's transfer processes, has flown to London for "face-to-face" talks about Pogba.
United paid £89million to get Pogba back on their books three summers ago but are now expected to charge around £130m.

Romelu Lukaku ‘embarrasses’ Antonio Conte
Steve Nicol believes Romelu Lukaku has embarrassed Antonio Conte with his comments.
"Certainly for Lukaku, yeah,” Nicol said. “‘Best manager in the world’?
"I’m sorry, I think even Conte will be embarrassed when he reads that.
"Even if he’s tapped him up and said to him ‘look, I’m going to try and get you’.
"He’ll be going ‘why did you open your mouth? Keep your mouth shut’. But, to answer your question, yeah perfect for everybody I guess.
"They’ve got to get rid of [Mauro] Icardi. Is the Italian league capable of taking care of the physicality of Lukaku?
"We go on about what he can’t do. But the physicality of the guy, I’m not so sure that the Italian teams will be able to handle him.”

Gareth Bale should be sent out on loan
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has told the club to send Gareth Bale out on loan.
The Wales international has once again been linked with Manchester United.
"His situation here is very difficult,” said Calderon.
"It is clear Zidane has discarded him in his mind. It is very disappointing for a player like him.
"Also, the problem is the transfer fee. Real Madrid want to get a lot of money for him, but I find that difficult. Maybe the best thing for everyone would be a loan.”

Liverpool Dejan Lovren latest
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren IS worth £25million - even if he is prone to making “horrendous mistakes”.
That is the opinion of Liverpool legend and ESPN FC pundit Steve Nicol.
"Yes he’s worth £25m, yeah, absolutely,” Nicol said.
"No [I would not keep him]. You have Gomez, you have Matip.
"Lovren’s been a good servant to Liverpool. That would be fantastic if we did get De Ligt.
"But Lovren’s been a good servant. Just because on occasions he’s made horrendous mistakes and we’ve picked him up on it, it doesn’t meant that I don’t like the guy.
"The guy’s got a big heart and he’s given everything for Liverpool. He’s played well on occasions.
"He gives you everything, sometimes to the detriment of his performance because he’s so eager and so keen to do well that he throws himself into challenges when he shouldn’t.”

Matthijs De Ligt to Man Utd decision soon
Manchester United and Barcelona will likely know if they have signed Matthijs de Ligt by the beginning of the July.
The Ajax star has impressed this season in helping the Dutch side to the Champions League semi-finals.
The world is likely to learn De Ligt’s decision sooner rather than later because of his agent Mino Raiola.
Raiola was handed a worldwide transfer ban for three months which was set to end ended after the Premier League window closed on Thursday, August 8.
But the Court of Arbitration for Sport froze the agent’s sanctions with a full decision expected at the beginning of next month.
Raiola is allowed to continue working until the outcome is decided.
And that means De Ligt will want to find a solution as quickly as possible in order to make an exit from Ajax.

Chelsea make Philippe Coutinho decision
Chelsea have decided against signing Philippe Coutinho after initial discussions with Barcelona, it has been claimed.
The former Liverpool midfielder has failed to impress at the Nou Camp since he made the move to the Spanish champions in January last year.
And as a result Coutinho could be sold this summer.
Chelsea were looking at the Brazil international as a possible replacement for Eden Hazard who has joined Real Madrid for an initial £89million.
But any move for Coutinho would mean the Blues’ transfer ban would have to be frozen or lifted.
The Sun claim the Blues have given up on Coutinho though as they are resigned to the fact their transfer ban will not be resolved in time to complete a deal.

Liverpool back in for Nabil Fekir?
Liverpool could be set to reignite their interest in signing Nabil Fekir from Lyon, according to reports from France.
Fresh reports from regional French newspaper Le Progres, cited by Foot 01, claim that Liverpool are back in for the forward but will not do a deal for a fee as high as last summer.
L’Equipe reporter Vincent Duluc recently declared that Lyon could sell Fekir for as little as €15m (£13.3m) despite the loss that would represent given the fee they stood to make 12 months ago.
The 21-cap France international is out of contract at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais next summer however, and is expected to be sold for a smaller fee than the one Liverpool agreed to pay before pulling the plug.
