Kanu goal dents Solihull Moors’ promotion hopes

Idris Kanu grabbed a late equaliser to dent Solihull Moors’ Vanarama National League promotion push in a 2-2 draw at Boreham Wood.
Solihull opened the scoring in the ninth minute after Adi Yussuf played through Nathan Blissett but the effort was well saved by home goalkeeper George Legg, only for the ball to rebound off Boreham Wood defender Jamal Fyfield and a post and into his own net.
Ralston Gabriel headed just wide as the hosts pushed for an equaliser but the striker was not to be denied in the 26th minute when he nodded home the rebound after David Stephens’ powerful header was cleared off the line from a Keiran Murtagh corner.
The Moors thought they won it in the 70th minute after Jermaine Hylton beat his marker before drilling a low cross for Yussuf to tap in from close range for his 20th goal of the season, but Kanu thumped home Femi Ilesanmi’s cross with two minutes remaining to salvage a late point for the hosts.
