Official: AS Roma appoint Ranieri as interim coach

AS Roma have officially announced the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as their new coach, following the departure of Eusebio Di Francesco.
In what will be his third stint at the club as a player and coach, the former Fulham tactician will stay at the Giallorossi until the end of June.
A 3-0 derby defeat against Lazio, followed by a Champions League elimination at the hands of Porto led to the dismissal of Di Francesco.
Ranieri will take charge of Roma's game against Empoli on Monday and will oversee his first training with his new team on Friday.
The Italian coach played six games for his favourite club in 1973/4 and returned as a coach in 2009/10 to finish second in the Serie A, before being dismissed the following season.
"When Roma calls you, you can't say no," said Ranieri after his arrival was made official.
