Southend players to undergo fitness tests ahead of Bristol Rovers clash

Southend will make checks on a number of players ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One home clash with Bristol Rovers.
That includes Luke Hyam (hamstring) and Stephen Hendrie (abdominal problem) after they both missed the 1-0 loss against Luton on Saturday – it is thought the former is the one with the better chance of being involved this weekend.
Harry Bunn, out for the last two games due to a hamstring issue, is another who will be assessed, along with Jason Demetriou and Harry Lennon as they continue to near comebacks.
Mark Oxley, Ben Coker, Tom Hopper, Harry Kyprianou, Lewis Gard, Sam Barratt and Rob Kiernan are all sidelined.
Midfielder Abu Ogogo could make his Bristol Rovers debut in the contest at Roots Hall.
The 29-year-old former Arsenal trainee joined the Pirates on deadline day on a free transfer from Coventry.
Meanwhile, Stefan Payne and Kyle Bennett departed, joining Shrewsbury and Swindon respectively on loan for the rest of the season.
Graham Coughlan’s men, who are 23rd in the table, head into the match still looking for their first league win of 2019.
