Hull striker Fraizer Campbell eyeing return against Sheffield Wednesday

Hull’s Fraizer Campbell could return to action in the home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

The eight-goal forward, who has missed the last three games, has returned to training after straining a hamstring in the win at Preston on Boxing Day, and will be assessed.

Boss Nigel Adkins has no major new injury worries after last week’s FA Cup defeat at Millwall, in which he made eight changes.

Defender Angus MacDonald (calf) and midfielder Jackson Irvine (international duty) are still unavailable, but the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Kamil Grosicki, Evandro and Reece Burke are expected to return.

Barry Bannan will be available for Wednesday.

The former Scotland midfielder has overcome a knock suffered in the FA Cup third-round draw with Luton last weekend.

Sam Hutchinson faces a fitness test after he was taken off against the Hatters, while Keiren Westwood could return in goal after sitting out the cup clash.

Fernando Forestieri and Lucas Joao are both still sidelined but should be back in training next week, while Josh Onomah (hamstring) has returned to Tottenham for treatment.
