The fact that Cristiano Ronaldo failed to attend Thursday's UEFA gala to see his former teammate Luka Modric win the player of the year award has led to a heated debate in Croatia, one which national team coach Zlatko Dalic has commented on.
Labelling the Juventus player as selfish, Dalic said he wouldn't want to build a team around him.
"Ronaldo is selfish and I'd never want him in my team," he said in an interview with Sportske Novosti.
"He is the kind of player who thinks 'even if we lose, the only thing that matters is that I score a goal'."
As for Modric himself, the coach congratulated the player on the award and said that he is proud of how the midfielder hasn't changed despite the fame and glory.
