Trio set to make return to Shrewsbury side against Bristol Rovers

Joel Coleman, Shaun Whalley and Mat Sadler are among the players who could be brought back into starting line-up as Shrewsbury chase their first League One win of the season against fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers.

The Shrews made eight changes for the midweek Checkatrade Trophy clash with Manchester City Under-21s and coach John Askey could decide to restore the majority of the team that were edged out 3-2 by Luton last weekend.

However, teenager Ryan Barnett pushed his claims for a role in the league encounter after impressing in the City match, which Shrewsbury won on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Lee Angol is likely to retain his place after scoring for the second successive game but fellow forward Abo Eisa has yet to return from a knee injury.

Rovers could draft in new loan signings Jack Bonham and Joe Martin as they look to turn around a similarly poor start to the season, having lost five of their seven league and cup matches so far.

Goalkeeper Bonham has joined on a season-long loan from Brentford and will challenge Adam Smith for the number one spot.

Martin, meanwhile, has been signed from Stevenage until January and could come in at left-back in place of youngster Michael Kelly, who started the 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat to QPR in midweek.

Chris Lines is still suspended while it remains to be seen when Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, Joe Partington and Stuart Sinclair will be fit for action.
