Nolan admits Notts County got what they deserved after being thumped by Yeovil

Notts County boss Kevin Nolan claims his side got everything they deserved after Alex Fisher’s hat-trick inspired Yeovil to a 4-0 victory.

The visitors ran riot at Meadow Lane as Yoann Arquin rounded off the scoring on a terrible evening for County, who missed a penalty when Kane Hemmings hit the bar.

Fisher netted twice before half-time to put County on the ropes before completing his hat-trick after 72 minutes.

The Magpies were set to have a day off on Saturday before facing Newport County next Tuesday but Nolan insists his players will be on the training ground this weekend learning from their mistakes.

“There are lots of emotions running through me at the minute,” Nolan said.

“But we got what we deserved because, quite frankly, when we talk about game plans, game management, not one of them have taken it on board.

“It’s quite strange really because we worked our socks off on Tuesday, but they’ve struggled under the lights and the expectancy of what’s been thrown at them.

“But we’ve got to sort it out quickly because we have a game on Tuesday. We were supposed to be having a scheduled day off on Saturday, but they will be in now.

“They will watch it again and we’ve got to put it to bed and we’ve got to get better and quicker.

“I’ve told the players who have watched me and have been with me for the last 18 months who know what I am about.

“I’ve just told them that it was unacceptable in terms of my standards.”

The Glovers put Tuesday night’s defeat against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup behind them to pick up a first victory of the season in some style.

Yeovil boss Darren Way has been waiting to experience that winning feeling this campaign and claims the triumph was the best he’s ever seen.

“We’ve been looking for three points and the three points matched the performance,” he said.

“I’ve been at Yeovil a long time now, as a player, as a coach, and now as manager and that was by far the best performance I’ve seen.

“It’s taken some time but there’s something special in the dressing room. It’s not happened overnight, but I think the supporters can sense it.

“We could have scored in the first minute, but the difference with this group is how they handle pressure.

“We came under a 10-minute spell, but they saw it out. Our quality of play such as Wes McDonald in a one v one situation was fantastic.

“With all the players we’ve brought in, we are going in the right direction.

“I know teams can say they’ve had an off day, but no disrespect we’ve absolutely blitzed them.”
