Hudson-Odoi, 17, impressed new Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri in pre-season and started the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.
There is plenty of hype around the forward and former team-mate Jonathan Panzo, who left for Monaco in the summer, believes the sky is the limit.
When asked who Hudson-Odoi reminds him of, Panzo told The Sun: "He is maybe a little like Mbappe with his speed and dribbling."
He added: "Callum was one of the best players at Chelsea when I joined.
"When we got a bit older it was him and me who used to play up out of our age group with the older boys.
"He's gone back there doing his thing an earned his place in that squad.
"He's a decent player and he can become an even bigger player than he is now."
Despite their youth team enjoying plenty of success at home and abroad in recent years, Chelsea have struggled to bring through players into their senior squad.

It was suggested Hudson-Odoi could be loaned out to an EFL club to sample first-team football on a regular basis.
Sarri, however, is eager to work with the prospect on the training pitch.
"Hudson-Odoi is a very young player," he said earlier this month. "We have to wait.
"He will be a very, very strong player. He will stay with us for all the season."

Chelsea are busy trimming Sarri's squad following the closure of the Premier League transfer window.
The majority of European clubs have until later in the month to finalise their business.
Tiemoue Bakayoko, who arrived from Monaco last summer, has joined AC Milan on loan.
Ola Aina is set to follow Bakayoko to Italy by moving to Torino for the season.
