The France international joined the Ligue 1 champions last summer and enjoyed a stunning debut campaign at the club, scoring 21 goals and providing 16 assists.
But Mbappe has already been linked with a PSG exit, with La Liga giants Real Madrid believed to be interested.
United are keen to add to their squad this summer as they look to compete with fierce rivals Manchester City for the Premier League title.
The Red Devils have been linked with a number of high-profile names, including Real's superstar duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

And according to Don Balon, a Spanish outlet famous for its outlandish transfer claims, Mourinho is plotting a stunning swap deal involving Mbappe.
The report claims that the Portuguese is prepared to splash out €190m (£167m) to bring him in, as well as using Anthony Martial as a makeweight.
Martial has struggled for regular gametime since the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
The Frenchman has also been linked with a switch to Chelsea but could prefer a move back to his homeland.
