City today celebrated the agreement by flying a giant blue blimp over Manchester with their logos featured on it.

One person said on the social media site: "A few ideas for branded content from the partnership.

"Scoring with Sergio – dating tips from Aguero.

NEW: Man City has announced a sponsorship deal with Tinder

"Do You Stay or Walker Way – Agony Aunt Kyle Walker.

"Two's Kompany, Three's a Crowd – Vinny sits in on first dates."

A cheeky spokesperson for Paddy Power added: "Man City have signed a multi-million pound partnership with Tinder.

"One condition of the deal being that the app no longer works on Merseyside, because if City can't score in Liverpool, no one else is allowed either."

Another added: "It is fitting that Man City announced their sponsorship with Tinder today as last night they were no match for Liverpool."

And betting company William Hill said: "Just about dumped (out of Europe) on Wednesday.

"Sign a deal with Tinder on Tuesday.

"Man City showing us all how to rebound after a bad night."

Chief Commercial Officer of City Football Group Tom Glick said: "Tinder is a huge global platform which, just like football, is bringing millions of people together every day all around the world.

"Football is all about a community of fans, sharing moments, emotions and passion for the sport they love.

"Together with Tinder, we have a great opportunity to explore how we can combine Tinder's significant appeal and reach with our global audience to create even more relationships in a new, fun and creative way.

"We believe this will be a perfect match for Tinder and for City."
